Archives For Pinterest Challenge

Happy Monday! This weekend was JAM PACKED full of activities and I can’t WAIT to share what I was up to. First though, before I go any further I must say:

(I tried to stay awake to watch the game, but it was a losing battle. Instead I just checked FB in the morning, Ducks you gave us a run for our money but ultimately Hockey Town prevailed. Wont lie though, nervous about this next round against Chicago. It’s going to be brutal!)

Moving on… Like I said, this weekend was CRAZY BUSY. Friday after work the rooms and I had to run downtown to go grab our packets for our COLOR ME RAD: DETROIT race on Saturday morning. Some last minute need to find a long sleeve white shirt because its only 50° in detroit this weekend. #WTF, I’m over the cold. BRING ME SUNSHINE AND 70s PLEASE.

It’s reveal day for my Spring Pinterest Challenge! This was my first time doing a challenge during the actual challenge time. Even though I’m late to do my reveal. Next challenge I promise I’ll be better! The Pinterest Challenge was the creation of Katie Bower from Bower Power and every season Katie and Sherry (from Young House Love) challenge themselves, two co-hosts (this challenge it’s Emily & Renee) and their readers to stop pinning and actually create something by finding inspiration and putting their own twist on it. But anyways… to the good stuff…

Last week I show you my inspiration here. But to recap I’ll show my mood board:

I attempted my hand at making a starburst-ish mirror. And I am proud to say that I accomplished my goal with all fingers in-tact, only minimal amounts of swearing and for only $10.

Tah dah! It still needs to be hung, I know… I’m a bad blogger. With school starting this week I was pushed WAY farther back than I had really even imagined.

UPDATE: Here’s the mirror hung up in my bedroom!

Below is a gallery tutorial on how I was able to accomplish this. I’m pretty proud of myself I must say. It’s not perfect, but I love it. I made a ton of mistakes and was super frustrated at times but it’s done and I’m happy.

So, what do you think? I’m anxious to hear your thoughts! Did anyone else do the Spring Pinterest Challenge? If so share your link in the comments. I’d love to see the results!

So, when I decided to start this blog part of my goal was to start challenging myself to actually create the things I’ve been “pinning” or have been thinking about for a looooooong time. And since we all know other bloggers have this same issue it’s nice when we are forced coerces into actually doing it.

The lovely Katie Bower from Bower Power Blog and Sherry from Young House Love have been issuing what they call the Pinterest Challenge for a while now (each season they challenge themselves and their readers to stop pinning and start doing) and this will be the first time I’ve actually participated. They ask the participants to find a project you’ve pinned, cite the sources of inspiration for it and then put your own twist on it. They give you about a week to get your project done, and then you share it on their sites with other readers and bloggers. Then people comment, tell you you’re amazing and we all live happily ever after. Well… thats the way I see it.

So, for my challenge I have decided on remaking over my old ugly bedroom mirror into something new. These are some images that inspired my project…

So, as you can see I have my hands full this week.

BUT WAIT…. THERE’S MORE…. (in my best infomercial voice).

I have also decided to sign up for The Rookie DIY Challenge posted on Challenge Loop by “The Rookies” themselves Casey & Bridget from DIY Playbook.

Luckily this one ends May 29th, so I don’t have to get it done right away. But I’m equally Excited for this one too! I’ve got some ideas swimming in my head but nothing too solid just yet. I’ll be sure to keep you in the know though.

On top of all this, I think next month I’m going to start my own little challenge series. Challenging myself to take on more than just an itty bitty craft project and more of a redo-rework project. Still working that idea out.

So what do you think? Are you going to join these fun challenges too? I’m excited to see what everyone is planning. If you have a blog and have posted your inspiration I’d love to see it. Leave a link in the comments, and good luck!
