Reflections.

October 29, 2013

So, if you’ve been following along on this little blog of mine for a while… you may be wondering where the hell I’ve been.

I wish I had a simple answer, but the best one I can give is that I’ve had a bit of a depressing month.

I don’t want to sound like my “problems” are worse than anyone else’s. The truth is people are living every day with worse problems than mine. However, that being said. When you go from being fairly happy to very unhappy in a short period of time you often feel like your world is crashing around you.

To say it in the simplest way possible my relationship with “Boy” ended. Yeah I know… happens to everyone. Yeah, I know– get over it. Well, I’m trying to. Not only did I lose the guy I loved dearly, but my best friend. And… well, my pseudo pup too.

I’m not going to go into all the details, in fact I wasn’t even going to mention it. I know he reads this every so often and not only has he been a HUGE supporter of this blog but has been a huge supporter of me in general and I’m not about to air our dirty laundry in front of family and friends. End of story.

It’s been a rough– month– after and I feel like I’m finally starting to put myself back together. I’ve relied heavily on friends, my roommate, family and overall kindness of random people to kinda get myself back together but I think it’s time I start focusing my energy back on my life, this little old blog and making some BIG changes for the better.

For one– Starting next week I’m back to blogging a few days a week. I’m back to getting my craft on (even if its forced, just to get myself out of the funk).

Two — For about a year and a half I’ve been talking about getting a dog of my own. Not a replacement for Zig, since he’s still clearly my #1 Man and I still see him several times a month, but a dog for me.  I have spent almost every year of my life with a dog until I moved into my own place and was going to school full time and working full time. Since I’ve gradumatated in the Spring I finally feel that I have the time to commit to my own furry bundle of love.

Three– The Etsy shop is getting some additions. I’m back to working on some pieces to sell and look forward to your guys opinions on them.

Four– I’d love to mention, but don’t want to jinx myself so you’ll just have to wait and see for that one 😉

——————————————————————————————————-

All in all, it’s been a rough month-ish. But– even though I’m not 100% back to myself I’m getting one small step closer every day/ week.

Thank you to everyone that wrote in a note, or sent me a message inquiring what was going on. It means a lot that you took the time to check in on me. I’m slowing getting back to my emails that have piled up and look forward to seeing your  comments again.

Quick note: because of the unplanned break I’m putting a hold on BlogPal until after the start of the next year. November is just way too soon to get it back up and running and December is a busy enough month for everyone as it is. Thanks for your understanding!

And with that I leave you with this print created by the lovely ladies at A Beautiful Mess which inspired me to actually write this post today and to not put it off for another day. Head over to their site to see some other really great ideas… I’m in love with their entire site… seriously one of my favorites to check out each day.

Dear people in Utah. I’m jealous of you. In fact I’ve been jealous of you for a while.

See… I’m a snowboarding aficionado.  And I tend to take snowboarding trips with the family. And during one of these “trips”  a few years ago to Utah with family & a co-worker I made the greatest discovery ever.

During a meal in Midvale, UT (to which place, I honestly can’t remember) my co-worker and I stumbled upon a place called “Smart Cookie” which turned out to be a homemade ice-cream cookie sandwich stop. Basically serving gourmet ice cream cookie sandwiches.

Now, I’ve never met an ice cream cookie sandwich I didn’t like. So naturally we indulged.

BEST ICE CREAM SANDWICH EVER.

Since then I’ve been determined to find the best combination that would come even remotely close to that deliciousness.

The sandwich I “created” at Smart Cookie was a Double Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookie sandwich with Oreo Ice Cream. The cookie was chewy and chocolatey and the chocolate chips melted in your mouth even when the cookie wasn’t warm.

So after months of searching for a good recipe, trying them, not having them be right… searching again… I finally found the best recipe for chocolate chocolate chip cookies that replicated the one from Smart Cookie.

A few weeks ago I promised you the process of how I updated my MCM dresser. Today is FINALLY the day I’m sharing that update.

The overall process took over a month, mostly because it was too hot to even attempt sanding… have you ever sanded when it was gross sticky out? DONT. I beg you, for Pete’s sake don’t. (btw, who is pete?)

So you guys might have noticed (or not) that I recently join the Influenster affiliate program! There’s a handy logo in my sidebar to the right. Anyways, Influenster is a program that works with bloggers and people all over to review products. It’s actually kind of a cool program. So I figured what the hell and joined.
